Theme: Satan often doesn’t come with obvious evil. He comes with comfort, pleasure, ease, and “wisdom” that slowly dulls our hunger for God. What feels like blessing today becomes bondage tomorrow, pulling us away from radical obedience until we are spiritually shipwrecked.

1. The Strategy: Disguised as an Angel of Light
The devil rarely tempts us with immediate horror. He offers comfort that feels like mercy.

Reflection: When life is too comfortable, ask: “Is this comfort drawing me closer to God or making me independent of Him?”

The devil weaponizes good things by making them ultimate things.

- When was the last time discomfort actually drew you closer to God? What does that teach you?
- How does 1 John 2:17 (“the world passes away”) change how you view the pleasures being offered to you?
Practical Application – How to Fight Back
- Starve the flesh: Fast from the comfort for a season (media, certain foods, social media) to rekindle hunger for God.
- Daily dependence: Start every day with prayer and Scripture before checking phone or comforts.
- Accountability: Share your struggle with a trusted believer.
- Remember the cost: Meditate on the cross—Jesus rejected the easy way for you.
- Resist and submit: James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
