Session Title: Men Don’t Follow Titles — They Follow Courage
Key Scene Inspiration: William Wallace to Robert the Bruce in Braveheart
Core Truth: Titles, positions, and status are given. Courage is chosen and proven. Real men follow the latter.

Opening Prayer - “Father, strip away our excuses and comfort. Make us men of courage who lead as You lead — not by title, but by sacrificial strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

1. The Hook (Read Aloud): “Men don’t follow titles. They follow courage.”
This one sentence from a warrior with nothing but scars and conviction exposed the emptiness of rank and bloodlines. Robert the Bruce had every earthly title. Wallace had none — except the respect of fighting men.

Question for the group:
When have you seen a man with impressive titles lose the room the moment real pressure hit? When have you seen an ordinary man earn fierce loyalty simply by refusing to back down?

2. Scripture Foundation (Read These Together)

Joshua 1:9 - “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

1 Corinthians 16:13 - “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”

Proverbs 28:1 - “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Matthew 21:12-13 (Jesus cleansing the temple) - Jesus had no earthly title the religious leaders respected. Yet He flipped tables and commanded the space because He carried the courage of perfect conviction.

1. Titles vs. Courage
   In your workplace, family, church, or friend group — who actually gets followed when decisions get hard? The highest title or the man showing most courage? Why?
2. Modern False Titles
   What “paper crowns” do men chase today (job title, follower count, income bracket, degrees, social status)? How do these things quietly steal our courage?
3. Personal Courage Audit
   • Where in your life right now are you hiding behind a title or role instead of stepping up with courage?
   • When was the last time you told a hard truth even though it cost you respect or comfort?
4. Family & Legacy
   Your sons (or the young men watching you) will not remember your résumé. They will remember whether you stood when it mattered. What story do you want them to tell about your courage?
5. The Wallace Moment
   If you were Robert the Bruce hearing that line today, what area of your life would it challenge the hardest?

4. Application Challenges (This Week’s Charge)

Daily Courage Practice:

• Day 1-2: Identify one area where you’ve been silent out of fear. Speak the truth this week (to your wife, kids, boss, or brothers).
• Day 3-4: Do one hard thing with no audience — gym PR, difficult conversation, confession of sin, starting that project you’ve delayed.
• Day 5-7: Lead your household or group in prayer or decision-making without defaulting to “whatever you want.” Stand in the gap.

5. Closing Charge

You were not born to manage comfort and collect titles. You carry the blood of men who crossed oceans, fought tyrants, built nations, and stood before God. The world is full of soft men with impressive labels.
It is starving for men who carry courage like a sword.

Final Declaration:
I will not trade my backbone for approval.
I will speak truth.
I will protect what is mine.
I will build what lasts.
I will stand when others kneel.

Men don’t follow titles.
They follow courage.
