Christ Among the Lampstands
You check the locks before bed. You glance at your phone when it buzzes at 2 a.m. You scan the parking lot when you walk your daughter to the car. This is what it means to keep watch in a world that feels less stable than it did ten years ago. The book of Revelation opens with a vision of Jesus walking among seven golden lampstands, His churches. He is not absent. He is not indifferent. He is present, and He sees everything.

Revelation 1:12-18
John turns to see the voice and finds the risen Christ, blazing in glory, walking among the churches He tends and guards.
Revelation 2:1
Jesus addresses Ephesus holding the seven stars in His right hand, walking among the lampstands, present with His people.

Christ promises to be with His disciples to the end of the age, a pledge He keeps now in every gathered church.
Guidance
When John hears the voice like a trumpet, he turns and sees someone like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and a golden sash. His eyes are like a flame of fire. His feet are like burnished bronze. His voice is like the roar of many waters. This is not the carpenter from Nazareth in a children's Bible illustration. This is the risen, reigning Christ who holds the keys of Death and Hades. And where is He? Among the lampstands. Among His churches. He is not watching from a distance. He is walking the rows. He knows which lamp is flickering. He knows which wick needs trimming. He sees the elder who is tired, the deacon who is tempted, the young father who feels like he is failing. He sees you. The image is meant to steady you. You are not keeping watch alone. Christ is present in the church He bought with His own blood. He tends the light. He guards the flame. This week, when you feel the weight of watching, remember who walks among the lampstands. He has not left you to manage this on your own.
Notes from the Watch
I have been reading Revelation again this winter, slowly, and it keeps landing the same way. Christ is not absent. He is here, in the mess and the faithfulness, in the struggle and the singing. That changes how I show up on Sunday morning. It changes how I think about the men I serve with. We are not alone in this. We never were. Keep the watch. He is with you.
